When Adolphos Busch and Ebehard Anheuser first started selling their beer, they delivered their popular product in horse-drawn delivery wagons. Marked with the name that was destined to become legendary in the history of breweries, these wagons would deliver barrels and bottles to a variety of beer gardens, taprooms and other public places, clopping down 19th-century streets at an old-world pace, unaffected by the hustle and bustle of modern times. Anheuser-Busch took great pride in the didtinctive beauty of its wagons and, in 1889, boasted that its St. Louis fleet of wagons would stretch nearly a mile in single file.
